YOUR SALVATION IS SECURE
Introduction:
What's the worst feeling in the world? For many of us, it's uncertainty. Not knowing if you got the job. Waiting for test results. Wondering if someone is upset with you.
Now imagine living with uncertainty about your eternal destiny. Every other religion faces this dilemma since they are works-based.
Many new believers struggle with this. You trusted Christ, but now you're wondering: Am I really saved? What if I mess up? What if I don't feel saved? Can I lose my salvation?
Let's settle this once and for all.

1 John 5:11-13 • John 10:27-29 • Romans 8:38-39 • Ephesians 1:13-14
Here's something you need to know: Salvation is not a feeling.
Feelings change based on sleep, stress, and circumstances. But God's truth never changes.
The Bible says: "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:13).
Did you catch that? Not hope. Not think. Not feel. Know.
God wants you to have complete assurance. And your assurance doesn't rest on your emotions, it rests on three unshakable foundations:
1. God's Promise
When you trusted Christ, God gave you eternal life. Not temporary life.
Not life-until-you-mess-up. Eternal life.
And here's the reality about God, He cannot lie (Titus 1:2). When He makes a promise, it's rock-solid. Your salvation is as secure as God's character. And God's character is unchanging.
If God says you're His, you're His. Period.
2. God's Power
Listen to what Jesus said:
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand" (John 10:27-28).
You're not holding onto God with your weak, trembling hands. He's holding onto you with His nail-scarred, all-powerful hands. No one, not Satan, not circumstances, not even your own failures, can remove you from His grip.
Think about that. The same power that spoke galaxies into existence is holding you secure. You're not staying saved by your strength, you're kept by His power.
3. God's Seal
The moment you believed, you were "sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise" (Ephesians 1:13).
A seal in the ancient world meant ownership and security. When a king sealed a document, it was final, untouchable. God has sealed you with His Spirit. That seal cannot be broken.
The Holy Spirit is God's down payment, His guarantee that you belong to Him forever.
But what about sin?
Here's where people get confused. "If I'm truly saved, why do I still sin? And if I sin, does that mean I'm not really saved?"
Let's be clear: Christians still sin. We're saved, but we're not perfect, not yet. The difference is, when we sin, we don't lose our salvation. Sin hinders our fellowship with God.
Think of it like this: If your child disobeys you, do they stop being your child? No. But your relationship is strained until there's confession and restoration. Same with God. Sin disrupts fellowship, not family status.
Romans 8:38-39 lists everything that could potentially separate us from God's love: death, life, ange
The conclusion? Nothing can separate you from God's love in Christ Jesus.
Your sins, past, present, and future, were all in the future when Jesus died for them.
He didn't die for some of your sins. He died for all of them.
Don't mistake eternal security for a license to sin.
"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?" (Romans 6:1-2)
Some people hear this and think, "Great! I can sin all I want and still go to heaven!" But if that's your response, you probably haven't truly understood grace.
When you genuinely grasp that you're saved and kept by grace, your natural response isn't, "How much can I get away with?" It's, "How can I live for the One who loved me like this?"
Grace doesn't make you careless. Grace makes you grateful. And gratitude fuels obedience.
So rest.
Your salvation isn't based on your performance. It's based on Christ's finished work. He said, "It is finished" on the cross, and He meant it.
You're secure. Not because you're strong, but because He is. Not because you're faithful, but because He is. Not because you hold on tight, but because He'll never let you go.
Think About It:
Have you struggled with doubting your salvation? What specifically makes you doubt?
Which of the three foundations (God's promise, God's power, God's seal) gives you the most confidence?
How does knowing you're secure change the way you relate to God?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that my salvation doesn't depend on my feelings or my performance. Thank You that You're holding me, and nothing can snatch me from Your hand. Help me rest in Your promises today. Amen.
